Complete Humphrey Jennings on DVD
The British Film Institute is to issue the second of in its three-volume series of the complete films of the documentarist Humphrey Jennings on 23 April. This very British of film makers is best known for Fires Were Started, his only full-length feature. Volume Two of The Complete Humphrey Jennings includes five films, completed between 1941 and 1943. Featured are Words for Battle, Listen to Britain, The Heart of Britain and The Silent Village, as well as Fires Were Started. Extras include 1941’s This is England, an alternate cut of The Heart of Britain and I Was a Fireman, Jennings’ original cut of Fires Were Started.
