A portrait of the Queen, which is made up of thousands of self-portraits by children from across the UK, is being projected onto the frontage of Buckingham Palace tonight.
The Face Britain projections is a project created by The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts for the lead-up to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics and Paralympics.
Children aged four to 16 years of age were invited to produce their self-portraits in any medium they chose, including drawing, textiles, painting and photography. Their images have formed a large montage of the Queen, which is duplicated in a number of variations across the entire frontage of the palace, covering it with animated images and effects.
The Face Britain projections are running for three consecutive nights until Saturday, 21st April. Simultaneous 24-hour screenings can also be seen on BBC Big Screens in 18 public locations across the country.
