That most individual of pianists, Piotr Anderszewski, has been awarded the BBC Music Magazine's recording of the year prize - and instrumental category award - for his Schumann recital on Virgin. Other winners include, in the DVD category, Claudio Abbado's incandescent concert performance of Mahler's Ninth Symphony with superband Lucerne Festival Orchestra, much admired here by Graham Rickson and of which David Nice hazarded in the original BBC Music Magazine review "finest concert DVD ever?  I think so".
