Due to an eye condition, senior French conductor Pierre Boulez has had to withdraw from his concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra on 29 April and 8 May 2012 in the Barbican. Boulez, who will be 87 next Monday, is being replaced by a long-time associate of his, the Hungarian conductor Péter Eötvös, 68 (pictured right), and the two programmes remain unchanged.
- 29 April: with violinist Christian Tetzlaff and the London Symphony Chorus, is Debussy's Three Nocturnes,
Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No 1, Scriabin's Symphony No 4 (Poem of Ecstasy) - 8 May: with violinist Nikolaj Znaider and the London Symphony Chorus, is Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste and his Violin Concerto No 2, and Szymanowski's Symphony No 3 (Song of the Night)
Boulez has four further LSO concerts scheduled on tour with the repertoire in Paris and Brussels 1-4 May; it is unclear as yet how these are affected according to the LSO website [1].
