Arnold Wesker, who last year enjoyed successful revivals of Chicken Soup with Barley at the Royal Court and The Kitchen at the National Theatre, is to celebrate his 80th birthday on 24 May in the more intimate surroundings of the King's Head Theatre in Islington. "Wesker at 80", a season of plays, will include two works never or rarely performed in London: Denial (1997), about false memory syndrome, and his opera Caritas (1991), first commissioned by Opera North for the Huddersfield Opera Festival. In April there will also be a premiere of The Wesker Trilogy: Revisited, a re-adaptation for the stage of his unfilmed screenplay adaptation of his early trilogy, Chicken Soup With Barley, Roots and I’mTalking About Jerusalem. www.kingsheadtheatre.com [1]
